Crystal Young grew up on a purebred Simmental operation in Alberta, Canada. Growing up she developed a deep passion for agriculture and sharing her experiences with others. During her senior year of high school she made the decision to purse new opportunities south of the border. Livestock Judging first brought Young to Butler Community College, El Dorado, Kansas, and then continued onto Kansas State University, where she completed her bachelors in Animal Sciences and Industry, and Agricultural Communications and Journalism.

Today, Young lives in Missouri, working as the Assistant Director of Public Relations for the American Angus Association. Her work involves telling the story of agriculture and the cattle business through video, photography and communications marketing.

She has a love for all things western, including great artwork, anything ostrich skin, and lots of stars! She looks forward to bringing a Midwest perspective to Copper West.

Young also maintains her own blog crystal.cattle, www.cdycattle.blogspot.com, discussing agriculture advocacy, marketing and the life of a farm girl. Young is also contributor to Cattle Call, the National Cattlemen’s Young Producers Blog.
