My Latest Obsessions

January 18th, 2010 :: 10:13 am

Lately there have been a few things that I cannot seem to stop thinking about! So, I thought I’d tell you all about them and then I won’t be alone in obsessing over these FAB items!!!

1. Piggy Paint…..love, love, love this for my daughter. I have a VERY girly-girl (I wonder where she gets that from?!) and she asks everyday to paint her fingers. So of course I’ve been using my nail polish and thinking nothing of it…oops! The amount of toxins and chemicals in “grownup” polish is crazy and while I was in a new and very posh baby store in Camrose, AB (from Kicks to Kids), I found Piggy Paint. It is non-toxic, water-based and hypoallergenic and the colors are fantastic. So of course I bought my little girl one and promptly went on the website (piggypaint.com) and will be ordering more for gifts. I’ve also decided to toss all my old polish and share hers…if it’s healthy for her, I should be doing the same! Now all I have to do is decide on a color…”Forever Fancy” or “Girls Rule!”

2. What color to paint one of our bathrooms….It’s little and right off of our kitchen/porch (basically the one all our guests use). My incredible husband bought me a gorgeous blue and white porcelain sink on our last trip to Mexico (and then lugged it around for the rest of the day AND managed to get it home unbroken!!! LOVE HIM!) and I really want to use it in this bathroom and go for a Mexican/South-western theme. This is a very hot trend right now, not only in decor, but in clothing and accessories as well! (As pointed out in other blogs!!). I plan to hang my collection of crosses on one wall (all various colors and textiles) and I would LOVE a Mexican yellow or red, but worry that with a blue/white sink that will be too much. Maybe a light brown? Any suggestions??

3. Coffee…I’m 98% sure that the reason I can’t stop thinking about this is because I had my 2nd baby about 11 weeks ago! He’s not much of a sleeper and LOVES to eat, so I’m averaging about 1- 2 hours a night of sleep in row…not complaining but it does explain why I can’t stop obsessing over coffee ALL DAY!! I love all and any flavoured cream and adore specialty coffees from any coffee chain. Although I’ve come to realize I’m not that brave with regards to branching out in my choices, I mean if I’m going to pay $5 a cup, I want to know I will like it! One coffee shop I do want to let you all know about is a cozy little shop right here in my home town…Rural Grounds is locally owned and operated right here in Irricana, AB and it’s a great stop while enjoying a drive out in the country!

All of these are very random topics, but like I said, I can’t stop thinking about them and wanted to share!

And I’m totally interested in your “can’t stop thinking about it” items…maybe what you are making/giving for a gift or just something you heard about or saw recently! I’d love for you to share!

Love from,

    Cathryn! Did you already paint your bathroom? What color of blue is the sink? I’d LOVE to see pictures of your sweet porcelain treasure. A fun bright color would be awesome depending on the color of blue. I’ve always wanted a room with 4 different bright colored walls (Mexican inspired also) – so your cool sink – sounds like a fabulous plan. I’m also quite excited to buy Piggy Paint for my niece – thanks for the fabulous post.

    That Piggy Paint sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing that! Good luck with your bathroom – the sink sounds so unique! It will be so exciting to actually be able to tell people your beautiful sink came from Mexico! My boyfriend has worked right around the Irricana area quite often (he’s in the oilfield biz), so I will have to tell him about that coffee shop for when he ever gets back in that area!!
