Bring Home The Gold

February 11th, 2010 :: 3:08 pm

The Olympics in our house, is one thing that we look forward to every couple of years. It doesn’t matter if it is Winter or Summer. With the Olympics 2010 only a day away, I am really excited for them to begin. Now you may be wondering what the Olympics have in common with the Western Lifestyle. Well the roots of Olympian Melissa Hollingsworth started in the rodeo arena. Melissa is also a world class barrel racer and from a rodeo family.

She is currently the World Leader in the Skeleton event. In honor of her rodeo family and her love of horses, she has the skull of a horse on the top of her helmet and pictures of rodeo events on the back.

Recently, Melissa admitted that she was scared to death of the Olympic course in Vancouver. It is the one hill that she has crashed on and come away from with injuries. But she put her rodeo training to work for her with the philosophy of when you fall off your horse you have to get right back on again. Now she is the #1 contender for Gold in Skeleton.
