Dress Code of the New West #8 (Men)
I realized I was being a little gender-biased in my posts, so here is one for the guys!
Outfit Numero 8
From top to bottom:
Resistol Lawless straw hat, Ralph Lauren cotton half-zip over RL Safari Madras button up, Cinch Logan jeans, Lucchese Ultra Crocodile Belly boots in Rust
What I like about it:
That I would like to see a cowboy in it! I know it’s a little warm for daytime in the summer, but for an evening out – perfect. I love layering in mens wear and the blue-mixed plaid contrasts perfectly with the burnt orange sweater. Great square-toed boots and a flat-top straw hat polish off the look and make it cowboy without being over-the-top western.
Side note:
Please, guys, abide by the universal hat rules. Straw hat from Easter to Labour Day, felt only between Labour Day and Easter. There is the odd occasion in Canada when a felt hat is acceptable outside of that time frame – like a May snowstorm, or a national award presentation – but other than that, keep ‘em for winter. And no straw hats ever in felt-hat season. Thank you for lowering my blood pressure.

Oh Laura….good work! If you stumble upon this guy at the Stampede, you let me know! :)

I wonder if I can convince my husband layering is “in”….and THANK YOU for the hat rules…someone had to say it! Are you listening Calgary?!

Indeed, Cathryn. Every time I see someone with an out-of-season hat I want to kindly and gently remove it from their head and stomp on it! I couldn’t believe it when two of the pros were wearing felt hats at the reined cowhorse show a couple of weeks ago. Like they don’t know the rules… Pffft

Laura–fair enough! How about we find one with a twin brother for me?? ;)

Done and done, Tiffany! I’ll keep my eyes peeled.
